The Board of Directors of We Care Eco is honored attend with her Excellency Minister Dr. Yasmine Fouad the press conference of the Ministry of Environment to review the ministry’s efforts to reduce single-use plastic bags, which aims to support Egypt’s gradual transition to limit the use of plastic bags.

WeCare Eco was presented by company’s founder, Dunia Al-Masry, as a model among the 4 companies that were highlighted in the field of providing environmental friendly alternatives and limiting the use of single-use plastics at the local level.

Dr Yasmine Fouad praised the models presented at the conference from the international and local companies’ experiences in the field of reducing the use of single-use plastics and success stories. She stressed the importance of development of a list that includes all workers in the single-use plastic bag system from suppliers and workers in the field of its recycling or producing alternatives and determining the size of the market. We have to open a channel of communication between the government, civil society, the private sector and Development Partners as well as connect consumers with retailers and suppliers of environment- friendly alternatives. We have to encourage the work of all partners to overcome obstacles and study the possibility of creating incentives. In this context, the Minister indicated the green package of incentives will be discussed with the Minister of Finance based on the Environment Law No. 4 of 1994 and the Waste Law No. 202 of 2020, highlighting that the ministry is studying the possibility of providing incentives to encourage all environment- friendly alternatives and products.
